BASF Coatings GmbH received the award at the 12th CSR Awards of the European Chamber of Commerce in China. It honors European companies that make a measurable contribution to environmental and climate protection in China through technical innovations.

The decision centered on the CathoGuard 800RE cathodic dip coating system, which offers ecological and operational advantages in automotive production. According to BASF, the system can reduce fresh water consumption per vehicle by up to 68%, CO₂ emissions by around 8% and material efficiency by up to 20%. At the same time, the technology meets the high safety and approval requirements of the automotive industry.

"CathoGuard 800RE is the result of intensive collaboration with our OEM partners and the work of our global KTL team," says Dr. Audrèe Andersen, Director Global E-Coat Technology at BASF Coatings. The technology has been validated on customer lines worldwide and, according to the company, helps to support BASF's sustainability goals and the Scope 1 and operational goals of users.

Validated results from OEM lines

Ongoing implementations in production lines in China and other regions confirm the savings potential of the KTL solution. Customer tests and process data show that water and material consumption can be reduced and process costs lowered.

"We are proud of this award," adds Stefanie Lang, Head of Global Sustainability - Automotive OEM Coatings at BASF. "It shows how sustainable coating technologies enable measurable improvements along the automotive value chain and create real added value for our customers."
