The decision centered on the CathoGuard 800RE cathodic dip coating system, which offers ecological and operational advantages in automotive production. According to BASF, the system can reduce fresh water consumption per vehicle by up to 68%, CO₂ emissions by around 8% and material efficiency by up to 20%. At the same time, the technology meets the high safety and approval requirements of the automotive industry.

The technology has been validated on customer lines worldwide and, according to the company, helps to support BASF's sustainability goals and the Scope 1 and operational goals of users.
Validated results from OEM lines
Ongoing implementations in production lines in China and other regions confirm the savings potential of the KTL solution. Customer tests and process data show that water and material consumption can be reduced and process costs lowered.
