The nationwide initiative "So that you know" was launched to raise young people's awareness of career choices at an early age, to introduce them to potential, possibly previously unknown careers and to support teachers in their educational work. The initiative provides schools with free teaching materials, including career profiles, worksheets and information created in collaboration with teachers, to introduce career profiles. The materials are available in digital and analog form. They were designed for pupils in grades 8 to 10 and are aimed at teachers who teach young people of this age group in general education schools.
Introducing the surface coater
The teaching materials developed jointly with the ZVO for the surface coater apprenticeship were sent to around 8,000 secondary schools in North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Saxony, Lower Saxony and Thuringia in mid-October. At the same time, the revised online platform Damit-du-bescheid-weisst.de offered information material. The response has been positive.
Helpful support via worksheets, videos and the Internet
93% of schools rated the materials, especially the fact sheets, as very helpful or helpful. 89% of schools came to a similar conclusion about the educational handouts for teachers. The worksheets for pupils were rated similarly by 79% of schools. Teachers used the information platform to download material, for information and to prepare lessons. Pupils also used the information platform, primarily to watch the videos. The revised online platform "damit-du-bescheid-weißt.de" was also used by both teachers and pupils.
