Washing machines are not all the same: in the professional sector, washing machines at Miele are custom-built and the quantities are comparatively small. The variance of the components is correspondingly high, and the individual parts of the machines also have very different geometries. The customers' wishes for powder-coated surfaces in individual color shades mean that the manufacturer's powder coating must be extremely flexible. Further demands on the system were: the components must be coated consistently well and precisely over a long period of time, and the surfaces should have a fine structure with a matte gloss level. Before the new dense phase coating system was purchased, the supplier's test laboratory checked whether these requirements could be met. The results were more than satisfactory, and in the meantime, the household appliance manufacturer's plant is equipped with a quick color change booth, a powder center with control system, eight automatic guns, as well as a final filter and double cyclone. The hundreds of different but recurring components can now be coated with repeatable accuracy and high quality thanks to the coating programs.
