VDMA publishes information sheet on smoke extraction and ventilation systems

The topic of ventilation strategies in buildings is becoming increasingly important in connection with the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 - ventilation planning is becoming an integral task in the fight against the pandemic. The new information sheet 12 of the VDMA's General Ventilation Association supports this planning by showing, based on applications and application examples, how added value can be achieved with existing safety-related systems through their ventilation function. The information sheet describes the possible types of automation with the corresponding designs such as CO2 sensor, temperature sensor, switching functions or presence detectors. The applications shown are based on the calculation methods of the Status Report 52 published by the Fachverband Gebäude-Klima e.V. (FGK). The results of the calculations show that the outdoor air volume flow required for sufficient ventilation is generally achieved and even partly exceeded with the systems presented.
