The new business unit thus develops and sells products for both high-quality electroplating and vacuum (precious metal) coating processes. The change of name of the business unit has no effect on existing business relations with customers. The current merger of the previously largely autonomous business units was the logical consequence since the Electroplating unit also offers solutions for the semiconductor sector.
The previous Electroplating division, headquartered in Schwäbisch Gmünd, has a long tradition dating back to 1888. Today, the company presents itself as a leader in the field of precious metal electroplating. The former Thin Film Products business unit, based in Balzers (Principality of Liechtenstein), has been developing and producing high-tech coating materials for applications in the vacuum coating industry for 70 years.
