The new phosphate methacrylate monomer VISIOMER HEMA-P from Evonik does not migrate and therefore has a long-lasting effect. HEMA-P, which is incorporated by polymerization, provides transparent flame retardancy, improves adhesion and reduces corrosion. This makes it both an anti-corrosion agent and an effective adhesion promoter. In addition, VISIOMER HEMA-P can improve dispersibility and act as a complexing agent, reports Evonik.
VISIOMER HEMA-P can be used as a monomer for emulsion and solution polymers, vinyl esters and unsaturated polyester composites, acrylic adhesives, acrylic floor coatings and cast PMMA. Applications include coatings for wood, textiles and paper, direct-to-metal (DTM) coatings, structural adhesives, roof sealants and parking deck coatings as well as cast PMMA for construction. In contrast to conventional flame retardant additives, VISIOMER HEMA-P works without impairing transparency or mechanical properties.
