PET is becoming increasingly popular and more and more applications are being found for recycled PET. Among other things, drinking bottles and films are made from it. Adhesion additives must be added to the printing inks to achieve the required adhesion to the PET. Tramaco's Trapylene 905S granulate is an acrylate-modified polyolefin that has excellent adhesion-promoting properties for PET (polyethylene terephthalate).
Trapylene 905 S is a solid resin and can be dissolved in, for example, aromatics such as xylene or other solvents such as solvent naptha. In film production, this dissolved form is applied to the film, which is then printed or bonded. Particularly in the field of film application, Trapylene 905 S has a significantly better adhesion compared to other primers. Due to its high molecular weight, 905 S has significantly better resistance to alcohols than previously used products.
