SurTec, the specialist for surface technology, has further expanded its portfolio with the new areas of thread locking and bonded coatings. Users benefit from the advantages of perfectly coordinated, complete system solutions from a single source. At Surface Technology 2024, SurTec will be presenting its innovative technologies from the new Functional Coatings and Functional and Decorative Electroplating divisions.
Functional Coatings
SurTec will be presenting its functional coatings solutions for the first time at Surface Technology 2024. These contribute significantly to optimizing the performance properties of materials and can, for example, optimize the durability, corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, sliding properties or electrical conductivity of surfaces. They also help to reduce energy requirements, extend the service life of components and reduce the use of hazardous substances.
The new Functional Coatings division includes the comprehensive technology portfolio of functional coatings for securing, sealing and clamping of the globally renowned precote brand. In addition, a range of bonded coatings and dry lubricants has been bundled in this area since the beginning of 2024. Bonded coatings or tribo-coatings form an even, clean, dry and low-friction lubricating layer on various materials and components. In contrast to other lubricants, a bonded coating or anti-friction coating forms a uniform adhesive layer on the component that cannot be washed off and does not need to be renewed.
New generation products for the bright zinc process
Other focal points at Surface Technology 2024 include various products for the alkaline and acidic bright zinc process. The bright zinc process enables a robust coating that is characterized by high corrosion resistance and is particularly suitable for large surfaces or mass production. The choice of process depends on the specific requirements for the appearance of the surface and its resistance to certain environmental influences. The acidic process produces a smooth and glossy surface, while the alkaline process produces a somewhat rougher surface.
With SurTec 704, the surface specialist presents a cyanide-free, alkaline bright zinc process that is characterized by excellent metal distribution. SurTec 704 is low-stress, flitter-free and enables problem-free galvanizing of highly profiled parts. The product has a very high burn-on limit and can be used at high current densities for barrel and rack processes in both sodium and potassium electrolytes.
SurTec 758 BC and SurTec 759 have been specially developed for the acid bright zinc process. They are suitable for high-gloss and ductile zinc coatings and are characterized by very good metal distribution, dispersion and hiding power. Their brightener additive is free of short-chain alcohols and is therefore not a fire hazard. Both products are characterized by a low tendency to crystallize and are suitable for rack processes with air or fabric movement as well as drum applications at low and high process temperatures.
With SurTec 556 RT, the surface technology expert has developed a slip wax that forms a uniform and colorless film after drying and increases corrosion protection and heat resistance. It creates a uniform appearance and covers the iridescence of the passivation layer. SurTec 556 RT is used as a post-treatment after coating and passivation.
