Steel parts require a high degree of cleanliness - as a prerequisite for lasting adhesion and the best possible corrosion protection. Sandblasting is an ideal cleaning method: The process descales, derusts, removes paint, deburrs and roughens. Surface specialists such as KST Kugel-Strahltechnik from Hagen use ferrite-free, non-silicogenic, environmentally friendly abrasives such as Garnet: free from heavy metals, with low consumption, reusability and very good cleaning results. KST also blasts XXL formats with its machinery.
"Our clients from the steel processing industry often need a service provider that can also process large parts. We blast sheet metal and other parts measuring up to 2.5 by 8 meters," says KST Managing Director Marco Heinemann. Heinemann cites the steel framework of a Dortmund monument as an example of the skillful handling of large formats: the supporting structure of the "Landstroper Ei", which is in need of restoration, was cleaned by KST.
