The history of RAL colors began a hundred years ago with the RAL Classic color palette. This first RAL colour chart comprised a selection of 40 standardized shades. Since then, the color palette has grown to 216 shades. To develop the anniversary design, Raw Color researched the history and areas of application of the RAL Classic colors and assigned shades to them. The result is a selection of five shades that represent application areas such as transportation, communication technology and security. The descriptions of the color shades provide insights into their historical application context.

The Raw Color anniversary design is available in a limited edition for the RAL K7, RAL K5 gloss and RAL K5 semi-matt color fans in the RAL Colors online store and from specialist dealers.
Donations for a good cause
In its anniversary year, RAL Farben is supporting the organization socialbee with a donation for every sale of the anniversary edition via the RAL Farben online store: For every RAL K5 color fan, a donation of one euro will be made to the organization, and for every RAL K7 colour fan, a donation of fifty cents. socialbee supports people with refugee and migrant backgrounds in their integration into the German labour market. Markus Frentrop, Head of RAL Colours, explains why the organization was chosen: "As diverse as the selection of our RAL colors is, so is the coexistence in our working world today. Colleagues with very different backgrounds and lifestyles work in our team."
