Classic PTFE-based wax additives have properties that other materials do not have - they offer excellent abrasion and scratch resistance in many application areas. For some time now, however, PTFE use has been the subject of increasing criticism. For this reason, BYK has developed PTFE-free wax additives.
Thanks to their special composition, the new additives Ceraflour 1050, Ceraflour 1051 and Ceraflour 1052 exhibit comparable mechanical properties in terms of scratch and abrasion resistance and surface smoothness compared with standard additives. Due to their fine particle size distribution, the additives are ideal for use in clear coats and systems with low film thickness. In waterborne systems containing co-solvents, a matting effect can be achieved.
