At the 76th IIW Annual Assembly and International Conference of the International Institute of Welding (IIW) in Singapore, Professor Dr.-Ing. Thomas Böllinghaus was confirmed as President of the IIW. An important position in the steering committees of the international association for welding technology is thus occupied by a delegate of DVS. Böllinghaus was previously active in the IIW on an honorary basis as "Chair Commission IX", Vice President and as Treasurer.
"For me, this responsible honorary position rounds off my now 28 years of active participation in the IIW," says Professor Böllinghaus. "As president, I now have the opportunity to strategically shape the future of the IIW. It is my vision to internationalize the IIW even more than before, and especially to motivate emerging countries with their incredible potential of young scientists and scholars for the new, really important topics in the context of international collaborations."
