More than 2,300 visitors and 140 exhibitors attended the leading trade show for industrial parts cleaning from October 11 to 13 in Stuttgart. Compared to the first alignment after the Corona pandemic, the event was able to increase in terms of visitors and exhibitors in a difficult economic environment.

Current developments in the industry and expert assessments indicate that the importance of component cleaning as a quality and competitive factor will continue to increase in the future due to new and changed tasks. Anyone with questions on the subject of industrial parts cleaning was able to get helpful answers from the 140 exhibitors on 4300 m² of exhibition floor space at parts2clean - from plant engineering and construction to cleaning chemicals, sensor technology and quality control.

In general, experts have identified a trend towards fine and precision cleaning, and the variety of tasks in industrial surface and parts cleaning is continuously increasing - this was also made clear by the speakers at the opening press conference at parts2clean. The topics discussed here were the sometimes massively increasing demands on the cleanliness of components in the filmic area in the fields of medical technology, the semiconductor industry, and in the area of mobility. The extremely difficult conditions for companies due to the ongoing supply chain problem and energy prices were also addressed. Another challenge currently facing companies is to replace experienced personnel who are retiring in the short and medium term and, above all, to secure their know-how. Solutions and approaches for improving the training situation in the industry were also presented.

Overall, companies from the cleaning sector and many other industrial sectors are facing major challenges in meeting the new and changed requirements for technical cleanliness not only in a process-safe and reproducible manner, but also in an energy- and cost-efficient manner. Especially due to the tense supply situation and the enormous energy prices, the latter no longer has anything to do with company philosophy alone, but is a very existential component.

Answers for current and future tasks

The focus is not only on current but also on future cleaning requirements. The choice of topics at the forum obviously struck a chord with the visitors, because not only were the seats well occupied during a number of presentations, but crowds of spectators also formed in the aisles. For the first time, the FiT Association presented the Fit2Clean Award, which was endowed with €10,000. The jury of industry experts voted the Fraunhofer IPA's approach to using Bhutan for cleaning and degreasing components into first place.

All in all, this year's part2clean was able to attract 2300 visitors, a good increase compared to last year's first event after the Corona pandemic, and exhibitor numbers also rose from 117 (2021) to 140. The second day of the event was particularly busy, but the third day of the event also provided a positive surprise. The proportion of international visitors was 25 percent (update 19.10.2022), significantly higher than last year (16 percent). Thus, despite the aftermath of the Corona pandemic and the economic environment influenced by supply chain issues and the energy crisis, an upward trend can be observed. Accordingly, the majority of exhibitors were satisfied with both the number and quality of contacts in direct discussions.
