VDMA publishes OPC UA information model for process air extraction and filtration systems (PAEFS). This enables manufacturers of air handling units to equip them with the universal, manufacturer-independent interface.

The information model UA Information Model for Process Air Extraction and Filtration Systems (PAEFS) was developed by the VDMA working group "OPC UA Air Pollution Control" together with the OPC Foundation working group "Process Air Extraction and Filtration Systems - PAEFS". It has been published in the Companion Specifications series as 'VDMA 40740'. "The aim of the model is to map a standardized interface for data exchange between process air extraction and filtration systems. It also includes upstream machines and supporting systems, such as technical ventilation and conveyor systems," reports Christine Montigny, VDMA General Air Technology.

"The aim is also to create a standardized interface to higher-level production systems, such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), in a manufacturer- and platform-independent communication network," adds Montigny, who accompanied the project within the VDMA. MES describes a system in operational production management that supports production planning and control. It provides a digital image of production and enables production processes to be monitored in real time
