The appointment as an honorary member is the highest honor to be awarded by DECHEMA. This year, it was awarded at the General Assembly on November 24, 2023. As members of the DECHEMA Executive Board, Prof. Dr. Rainer Diercks and Prof. Dr. Ferdi Schüth have played a decisive role in shaping the fate of DECHEMA and have also had a strong influence on its content and organization.
Rainer Diercks was a member of the DECHEMA Board for 14 years, six of them as Chairman. As Chairman of the Board of the German Catalysis Society, he played a leading role in developing new structures and topics. Ferdi Schüth has contributed with great commitment to many DECHEMA expert committees. He chaired committees on catalysis, zeolites and chemical reaction engineering and served on the DECHEMA Executive Board for twenty years. There he was able to initiate numerous new topics and support many processes.
