Mahr: Automated measurement thanks to robots

Anzeige Measuring and testing | Created by BA

Mahr offers a solution for the automation of measurements: A collaborative robot loads measuring stations in the measuring room or near the production line without an operator. This increases the degree of utilization of the measuring station and reduces overall costs.

The system consists of a workpiece storage unit with pull-out magazines containing the parts to be measured. A MarSurf measuring station from Mahr stands on the workpiece storage. A robot arm is tethered to the side so that it can easily access the magazines. The robot pulls one out and removes a component by means of a gripper that has been precisely adapted by 3D printing. It places it on the MarSurf device, and the measurement starts automatically.

The system requires only as much space as a standard measuring station. In addition, the service life of the measuring device is increased, and even three-shift operation is possible. Depending on the application, it is even possible to measure and load at the same time. The robot can also be programmed very easily and quickly for other workpieces.
