Fraunhofer IFAM offers online seminar on corrosion

The seminar "Introduction to Corrosion" of Fraunhofer IFAM will take place in November. It is aimed at engineers, technicians, and scientists from all technical fields.

The two-day online seminar held by Fraunhofer IFAM on November 23 and 24 is intended to provide a basic understanding of corrosion phenomena using many practical examples. Corrosion and its consequences cause costs in the billions of euros every year in Germany alone in the form of component failure, product damage, and production or performance failures. It is essential to avoid these. The problem of "corrosion" is often given low priority in technical and university education. For this reason, in addition to gaining a basic understanding of corrosion phenomena, participants will be given the opportunity to work independently on concrete applications and formulate their own, goal-oriented approaches to solving the problem.

The seminar will be held under the scientific direction of Dr. Peter Plagemann and other recognized corrosion experts from Fraunhofer IFAM. Due to his many years of teaching at the universities of Bremen and Bremerhaven, Dr. Peter Plagemann has extensive didactic and methodological experience in conveying these technically complex relationships in a practical manner and in dealing with the specific problems of the participants. Special basic knowledge - especially knowledge of chemistry that goes beyond school knowledge - is not required.
