Implants have been expanding medical possibilities for decades and offer high development potential. A large number of implants have a surface coating. These coatings often favour the biocompatibility, the ingrowth behavior and the mechanical properties of the implants. Current research results and experiences will be discussed at the workshop "Implants - When the answer is in the coating!" on February 27 and 28, 2023 in Tuttlingen.
The various sessions will focus on additive manufacturing and corresponding simulations. Bioactive, antibacterial and living layers as well as tissue-supporting implants will be presented. One session will focus on surface modification and thin-film technology, and another will take a look at the future. The technologies and materials used will be presented, or the processes themselves will be highlighted. Medical advances will also be included.
