Honing brushes are used in numerous processes when machining metallic surfaces. Lessmann's flexible honing brushes are used to process the insides of pipes, bores, hoses, cylinders and valve guides, among other things. They are suitable for deburring, rounding edges, grinding, cleaning and surface finishing. Due to the elastic and flexible structure of the trim, cross bores, openings and channels can be processed in a single operation. This allows uniform results to be achieved with high dimensional accuracy.
Cross sanding for functional surfaces
During the machining process, the combined rotation and back and forth movement of the brush creates a so-called cross-grinding. This surface structure helps to reduce friction and distribute lubricants such as oil evenly over the surface. This can support the functionality and service life of the machined components.
Use in automated and manual processes
The flexible honing brushes are used both in machining centers and automated machines as well as in manual use in hand-guided machines. Lessmann offers the brushes as standard with outer diameters from 5.5 to 64 millimetres. Silicon carbide in grit sizes 120 and 180 is used as the fill material. Typical areas of application include the automotive industry, engine and vehicle construction, aerospace, pneumatics and hydraulics.
