Hesse, a family-owned company based in Hamm, Germany, sees it as its duty to assume responsibility for future generations. That is why Hesse is now taking consistent action and has developed a new sustainability strategy. This envisages replacing all products containing solvents with sustainable alternatives by 2030. Among other things, this should succeed in minimizing emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In addition, the Hammer surface specialist will increasingly offer products made from regenerative base materials such as water or renewable raw materials. By 2030, the share of sustainable raw materials in the entire product portfolio is to be expanded in order to conserve resources.
In order to achieve the goals set, Hesse Lignal's research department is working on the development of modern coating systems. In doing so, the company has set itself a tight schedule: as early as the end of 2023, Hesse Lignal will remove all nitrocellulose lacquers, solvent-based stains and solvent-based acid-curing lacquers from its product range. This means that Hesse Lignal will no longer offer such products from January 2024. By 2030, all other products with high VOC content will then be replaced by more climate-friendly alternatives. To enable paint-processing companies to prepare for this in good time, the company's plant and technology consulting service is already helping customers to convert their machines and processes.
