Cryogenic Technology for Vacuum and Cooling Systems Available Worldwide

Anzeige Vacuum Technology | Created by SI

Edwards Vacuum now offers its cryogenic product portfolio worldwide. It includes helium compressors, cold heads, cryopumps, and cryopanels, as well as integrated cooling and vacuum systems for research, aerospace testing, and industrial coating processes.

The manufacturer has designed this expanded product line for applications that require stable low temperatures and controlled environmental conditions. Typical applications include particle accelerators, superconducting magnets, and research in low-temperature physics. Other applications include satellite testing, space simulation chambers, and thin-film coatings.

The portfolio has a modular design. Users can employ individual components or combine them. This allows for the implementation of both cooling and vacuum functions in the systems.

Components for Cooling and Vacuum Generation

The product line includes ECC cryogenic helium compressors. They supply high-purity helium gas for cryogenic and vacuum systems and are designed for applications where low temperatures must be maintained during continuous operation.

The ECH cryogenic cold heads operate according to the Gifford-McMahon principle. They generate and maintain low temperatures with minimal vibration. This makes them suitable for sensitive applications, among others.

ECP cryogenic vacuum pumps are used to create vacuum conditions down to approximately 10⁻⁶ mbar. They adapt their operation to changing process conditions. The modular design also facilitates maintenance and increases system availability.

The product line is complemented by cryogenic panel applications for gas separation in specialized cryogenic vacuum applications. These include applications in the aerospace industry.

In integrated cryogenic cooling systems, compressors and cold traps are combined to generate controlled low-temperature conditions. Integrated cryogenic vacuum systems, on the other hand, combine compressors with cryopumps to generate stable low-pressure conditions.

In scientific applications, cryogenic systems are used, for example, in particle accelerators, superconducting magnets, and experiments in low-temperature physics. In these contexts, reproducible temperature conditions and stable operating parameters are essential prerequisites for the experiments.

Other areas of application include space research and testing procedures for the aerospace industry. Cryopumps and cryogenic systems are used, among other things, for testing ion thrusters, in satellite qualification programs, and in space simulation chambers. There, the systems help generate low pressures and temperatures that can be used to simulate space conditions.

Vacuum Technology for Thin-Film Processes

Vacuum and cryogenic technology is also used in industrial thin-film coating applications. One area of application is optical coating processes. Controlled environmental conditions support reproducible process conditions and consistent quality in the coating results.

According to the company, in addition to individual components and systems, its offerings also include support throughout the entire lifecycle of the equipment. This ranges from planning and configuration to installation and maintenance, as well as the adaptation of existing systems.
