With the Xevo TQ Absolute XR, Waters Corporation, Milford/USA, presents a quadrupole mass spectrometer that is both robust and sensitive.

The device measures 43 × 79 × 96 cm and offers a mass-to-charge ratio of 2 to 2,048 m/z. The design is based on the predecessor model Xevo TQ Absolute, but requires up to 50 % less power and nitrogen, according to the manufacturer. It also generates 50 % less heat than any other high-performance tandem or triple quadrupole mass spectrometer on the market and requires 50 % less floor space.

Along with the new mass spectrometer, Waters is introducing the Stepwave XR ion guide. It is equipped to minimize the risk of unplanned downtime while ensuring high sensitivity and precision even with complex sample types and sensitive compounds.
