Closed-loop coating control from Coatmaster available on an industrial scale for the first time

With FlexOS V7, Coatmaster is expanding its measurement and control technology to include a closed-loop control concept based on the measured coating thickness - a step towards more stable processes and lower material consumption.

The new version of the operating system for the coatmaster Flex relies on closed-loop control, which is based directly on the coating thickness measured on the component. As the application efficiency varies greatly in practice - for example due to gun parameters, geometries or ambient conditions - only the measurement directly after the application provides a reliable basis for process control. On this basis, the line can react automatically to changes and ensure a constant coating thickness.

Flex apps and connectivity expand the range of applications

FlexOS V7 introduces modular Flex apps that run on the device and enable individual control algorithms or interface adaptations. This simplifies integration into any standard system environment - for example via PLC or fieldbus. In combination with AI-based analysis tools, the system continuously learns from process data and supports predictive optimization, which improves both quality and the use of resources.

Examples from the industry

More than 50 coating lines worldwide are already using closed-loop solutions based on coatmaster technology. With OS V7, partners from different markets are expanding their systems with automated feedback and intelligent adjustment aids. These include, for example, integrated powder discharge control at MS (Binks) or AI-supported parameter recommendations via Blueprint+ from coatingAI. Further collaborations exist with system manufacturers from Brazil, Japan, Sweden and Turkey, among others.
