Once again this year, the 16 best trainees in Germany will take part in the competition for young automotive painters. Graduates with top marks in their journeyman's examination who have already impressed the chamber and state chambers in preliminary decisions were selected. On a total of two competition days, they demonstrate their skills, creativity and motivation. This year's host and main sponsor of the German Automotive Painting Championships is PPG Deutschland Sales & Services GmbH.
Maximum precision required
"Our young colleagues not only have to repair a mudguard, but also give it a three-color design. Next on the agenda is the multi-colored painting of a door. The special challenge: both paint jobs have to fit flush at the end. This requires maximum precision and perfection," says Torsten Schmidt, Head of the Vehicle Painting Division at the German Association of Vehicle Painters (BFL). In addition, the young vehicle painters can give free rein to their creativity by designing a miniature car model.
