Buehler was founded in 1936 by Adolph I. Buehler, a Swiss immigrant of the same name, who saw a need in the Midwestern United States for metallographic specimen preparation equipment and optical inspection instruments for the steel and automotive industries. The company expanded into Europe in the 1960s and has had a presence in China since 1979.
Its brands include Reicherter, Wolpert, Rockwell and Wilson hardness testers. "The basis for 85 years of success in the market is our innovative and robust complete solutions for the laboratory, our reliable service and the knowledge we have acquired over this long period," says Eugenio Calderon, vice president of Buehler since February 2021.
