In the technology center, the painting processes of all vehicle manufacturers are researched and simulated. The individual factors of each production line that influence the application, such as temperature and humidity, are taken into account. The facilities are Industry 4.0-capable and networked with BASF sites worldwide. The services are offered to more than 100 automotive plants as well as manufacturers of plastic add-on parts worldwide.
At the same time, BASF relocated the production of solventborne basecoats to Marchamelo, the European strategic center for this technology for the Group. With an area of 310,000m2 and around 550 employees, the site has three modern production facilities. Coatings are produced in two of these plants and resins in one. BASF has invested a total of around 14 million euros in the plant.
