BASF has inaugurated a new production line for aqueous dispersions at its site in Heerenveen, the Netherlands. "I am proud that we have achieved this expansion without additional CO2 emissions. Our site is to become CO2-neutral and contribute to BASF's climate protection goals," says site manager Sjoerd Visser.
Water-based dispersions
The new plant significantly increases production capacity, for example for the products Joncryl and Acronal Pro. The water-based polymer product Joncryl is used in sustainable printing inks for food packaging. The water-based polymers of Acronal Pro contribute to the optimization of color and gloss in both paints and varnishes.
Location with the necessary know-how
According to the manufacturer, the Heerenveen site offers the appropriate infrastructure and the necessary know-how for these products. Sjoerd Visser on the current framework conditions for the alignment of the new production line: "These are difficult times for our industry in Europe, as we are facing the challenges of climate neutrality, the circular economy, digitalization and the implementation of the EU strategy for sustainability in the chemical industry. With our innovation team in Heerenveen, we are committed to tackling these issues."
