Axalta develops new flame-retardant thermoplastic corrosion inhibitor

Anzeige Industrial plasma surface technology | Created by BA

New to the Axalta range is Plascoat pPA571 FR (flame retardant). The halogen-free anti-corrosion coating protects buildings, harmful fumes are eliminated.

Thermoplastic coatings are fire resistant and act as a barrier against additional damage caused by the spread of flames. Unlike other available flame retardant solutions, Plascoat pPA571 FR does not contain a halogen component such as chlorine or bromine, so no toxic fumes are generated. Plascoat pPA571 FR provides robust protection against sun, salt and seawater combined with excellent impact and sand abrasion resistance. This makes the coating particularly suitable for steel, iron and aluminum substrates

The coating's flame retardant properties and low toxicity are evidenced by several industry certifications, including British Standard 476, EN 45545-2 European Railway Standard for Fire Safety, British Standard 6853, International Maritime Organization FTPC Standard, UL 94 - Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances. .
