A few days before the start of the 35th Dresden Powder Symposium, there is once again a positive response from the industry despite the difficult conditions: around 45 co-organizers and exhibitors as well as currently around 270 registered participants have signed up just a few days before the event. Since its first edition in 1990, the symposium has continued to develop and is now a regular meeting place for many users, plant manufacturers, and suppliers to exchange technical information. This year also marks the 35th anniversary of the event, which had to be suspended in 2022 due to the pandemic.
35th anniversary event
The program covers a wide range of topics, from material- and process-specific issues to energy and efficiency topics to quality assurance and automation. Numerous contributions are highly practical and draw on experience from real coating companies – for example, on automated partial powder coating, series production of large-volume components, or the successful automation of coating processes.
Promising user presentations
Several user reports and best practice examples will highlight specific implementation experiences from contract coating, the use of new pretreatment and coating systems, and optimization approaches along the entire process chain. This will be supplemented by technical presentations on measurement and testing procedures, energy analysis, and new regulatory and occupational safety requirements.
Another focus is on the dialogue format: panel discussions will address current industry topics, such as the sensitivity of modern powder coatings or the modernization of existing plants through retrofit concepts.
New accents in moderation
This year's symposium is setting new trends in moderation: in addition to founder Dr. Thomas Herrmann, his son Chris Herrmann will be involved in the moderation for the first time. Chris Herrmann is an experienced powder coater and is also heavily involved in quality and standards work in the industry as chairman of the GSB Steel Quality Committee.
