In May 1998, the first product carrier was coated in the newly built production facility of Oftec Oberflächentechnik GmbH & Co KG in Hagenbach. At that time, the company, which is now part of the Ebbinghaus Group, was the first to apply manufacturing technology at the level of automotive series production, and the production at Oftec was among the largest KTL contract coating for cast and forged products in Europe. Since the beginning of 2017, a powder coating plant has also been in operation in Hagenbach. Here, pretreated components made of steel, galvanized steel and aluminum can be coated with different powder coatings using KTL coating. In addition to cathodic dip coating and powder coating, Oftec's range of services also includes wet painting, duplex coatings and corresponding pre-treatments and post-treatments such as paint stripping, parts cleaning and the blasting of components.
Work islands planned according to ergonomic and physiological findings with modern production aids such as crane lifting systems and AGVs (driverless transport vehicles) effectively support the manufacturing process. A future-oriented manufacturing concept, including just-in-time processing, batch separation, lot tracking and individual workstation storage, ensures precise order processing and the coating of medium and large series with consistent quality at Oftec in Hagenbach.
