"I don't know of any other primer powders on the market that bring both degassing properties and are NT powders," says Hogenberk. Nevertheless, the adhesion of the following coat can be significantly impaired, which can lead to costly quality problems. The primer, which belongs to Oxyplast's Hi-Life Primer family, passed tests in accordance with ISO 2499 with regard to adhesion strength in the cross-cut, and also in accordance with Qualicoat using the Koch test. It also successfully passed 2,000 hours of salt spray testing according to ISO 9227 and a condensation water test according to ISO 6270-2, as well as cyclic weathering according to ISO 12944-6 and ISO 20340. The primer is Qualisteelcoat certified and meets all requirements of a C5 environment (MS2 and HD2). However, for maximum substrate protection, the pretreatment is just as important as the first powder coating layer. And even the best coating will not adhere to a poorly prepared surface. Therefore, it is always important to include the quality and type of base material, as well as the type of pretreatment, when planning the target properties. In principle, Hogenberk advises in particular to always test substrates, primers and top coats together, since not every primer works equally well with every substrate. Furthermore, according to Hogenberk, with LB-EF36 even increased film thicknesses or subsequent reshaping do not lead to negative effects; at the same time, edge coverage is also good.
