Goodbye wetting disorders
LABS vor dem Lackierungsprozess beseitigen

In order to avoid paint flow disturbances, paint wetting impairment substances (LABS) must be kept out of painting processes as far as possible. Specially cleaned seals and other system components make an important contribution to this.
The term LABS refers to substances that interfere with paint wetting, such as silicones, oils or greases. LABS cause paint flow disturbances on surfaces to be painted, such as automotive bodies and housings, and result in unsightly craters or streaks. The resulting necessary rework is associated with considerable expense. For this reason, care must be taken during all painting work to ensure that the components used there are free of paint-wetting-disrupting substances or cannot release such substances. Particularly susceptible to this are seals, which may contain compound components or processing aids that have a paint-wetting-disrupting effect.
LABS-compliant cleaned
For these critical applications, SKF Economos Deutschland GmbH offers specially LABS-cleaned seals and other components, for example for use in ventilation and transport systems. A special cleaning process eliminates substances adhering to the surface of the components and also penetrates deeper areas of the diffusion layer. The LABS conformity made possible in this way is verified by a paint test with precisely defined work steps in accordance with VDMA worksheet 24364. While this cannot guarantee freedom from LABS indefinitely, as compound components such as plasticizers could diffuse from the interior of the seal to the surface over time, it does provide assurance of condition and handling processes. Beyond its LABS-compliant products, SKF Economos offers users customized advice and support.
Under the name Sealing Solutions, SKF offers a wide range of seals based on selected materials. These solutions are based on SKF's proprietary Seljet manufacturing technology, which enables customized sealing solutions to be realized quickly and cost-effectively. Under the motto "seal plus", SKF also develops and manufactures molded parts, waterjet parts and plastic components for industrial use and offers new construction, repair and optimization of cylinders.
