In addition to degreasing, drying, and high-pressure or brush deburring, the concept of MTM GmbH's cleaning systems has also been supplemented by the possibility of surface treatment by TI passivation. Aluminum as a material contributes in particular to weight reduction in vehicle construction, but is of course also used in other sectors outside the automotive industry. A problem in the assembly of aluminum parts is the natural, inhomogeneous oxide layer. By applying a titanium conversion coating, the uneven oxide skin is removed and replaced by a resistant and thin TI layer. Corrosion protection is improved and the surface is optimally prepared for the application of paints and coatings.
With the new RoboFlex system type, MTM GmbH has expanded its range of products to include titanium coating, thus optimizing quality and safety within assembly production. Already 6 plants of this type are in operation at well-known automotive suppliers since 2021, which among other things both clean and titanium coat structural parts and battery trays. In addition, MTM GmbH also remains true to its pursuit of environmental compatibility with this process and fulfills all new European environmental directives with the RoboFlex system.
