In January 2026, the German Research Association for Surface Treatment (DFO) is offering three one-day workshops aimed at users of coating and surface technology. All events are limited to a maximum of ten participants and will take place at the Neuss site.
Understanding and applying coloristics
The workshop "Understanding and applying coloristics" will kick off on January 13, 2026. The focus will be on the basics of colorimetry and coloristics. Topics covered will include color perception, color models, color classification systems, and the structure and properties of different types of pigments. The program is supplemented by practical exercises, the use of color measuring devices, and the teaching of tools for everyday laboratory work. Target groups include developers, users, specialists in paint technology, and trainees and students of surface technology.
Recognizing and avoiding errors in the coating process
The workshop "Errors in the coating process" will follow on January 14, 2026. The training combines theoretical basics with practical analyses of damaged components. Typical causes of errors, methods of process analysis, and tools for error evaluation will be discussed. These include microscopic procedures and analytical methods such as IR, TOF-SIMS, EDX, and SEM. The workshop is aimed at employees of coating companies, both beginners and those with practical experience.
Performing corrosion tests professionally
The workshop "Performing corrosion tests correctly" will conclude the series on January 15, 2026. Participants will gain an overview of the basics of corrosion, test methods, and the selection of suitable test media. One focus is on practical tips for performing and evaluating corrosion tests, including typical sources of error. The requirements of DIN EN ISO 9227 will also be covered. The training is aimed at employees from corrosion testing laboratories and users who already perform corrosion tests.
All three workshops are designed as one-day events. The participation fee is €600 for DFO members and €800 for non-members, plus VAT in each case. Registration is possible via the DFO website or by email.
